Neruda Productions is presenting it’s final show of the year: Café Cabaret Intimo. This intimate performance features a very diverse group of 12 young performers in a comfortable and interactive setting. The group includes artists from Kenya, India, Chile, Burma, and Canada all living in the K-W region and all between the ages of 14 and 25. It will be an exclusive night including diverse food and drink combined with a unique soundscape that will come to a close with a performance from the Puerto Waterloo Jazz Ensemble Video of Puerto Waterloo Jazz.

Nafoyo (Kenya)

Nafoyo is a local musician in Waterloo. She attends the University of Waterloo where she is studying Political Science and Philosophy.

She is originally from Kenya and she has lived in South Africa as well as Harriston, On. She comes from a musical family and has been singing as long as she can remember.

This young artist has been playing the guitar for a few years now and is always looking for opportunities to increase her knowledge of the instrument. She believes the guitar to be an incredibly beautiful instrument that is simplistic enough for accompaniment, yet also wonderfully intricate with much to unlock.

The acoustic sound Nafoyo has cultivated speaks of her soul and comes from her lived experiences. She is thankful for any opportunity to play before an audience and hopes that those who hear her music are moved.

She will be playing with Darryl Elisha an accomplished Tablas musician of Indian Heritage.

Puerto Waterloo Jazz Ensemble (Canada-Chile)

The Puerto Waterloo Jazz Ensemble was created on September 2009, with 2 musicians from Canada and 2  from Chile.
In July of this year two of their members played at the Uptown Waterloo Jazz Festival, with a wonderful reception; bringing all the Funk and Latin Jazz rhythm.

As Rafael and Nicolas stayed  in Canada as Neruda Productions first artists in residence program, they decided to create a new band with two young talents from Waterloo Collegiate Institute.

Their music goes from the old swing thru the Latin-Jazz fusion, starting from standard jazz compositions.
Their members are Nicolas Vargas (Tenor Sax, Chile), Rafael Phillips (Electric Guitar, Chile), Jonny Chapman (Bass, Canada), and Shawn Moore (Drums, Canada)

Sarah Thianhlun, Irene Tha Chin, Dieh Deih Niang & Bawi Cen Hrang.

These young students are from Eastwood Collegiate and they come from Burma, all of them started to play and sing at a very young age, and they used to play at the church and cultural events since they were kids.

With all their own culture they are going to present songs about love, God and friendship in them native language, Burmese and Chin.
